'Landmark' Glasgow church on the market for £190k could be 'turned into cinema'

A landmark Glasgow church in Inbrox has been put up for sale by the Church of Scotland, and it could be up your street.

Ibrox Parish Church (IPC), which has not been used for worship since 2019, has hit the market for offers over £190,000. The listing describes the Clifford Street building for sale as a “traditional stone-built church situated south west of Glasgow city centre.”

It reads: “The property comprises an entrance vestibule, main church sanctuary, upper floor gallery, session rooms, vestry, store rooms and toilets.” Interestingly, the listing says the building could be turned into a cinema, shop, museum, or art gallery, reports the Record.

And if your eyes light up at the thought that, you won’t even need permission to give the site an overhaul.

“The building could be used, without the necessity of obtaining change of use consent, as a creÌ€che, day nursery, day centre, educational establishment, museum, art gallery or public library,” the listing sets out.

“It also has potential for a variety of other uses, such as a theatre, cinema or entertainment venue, retail space or community resource subject to obtaining appropriate consents.

“The intention is that separation works will be carried out by the church following the issue of a building warrant,” the listing clarifies.
