A ‘kind and caring’ young footballer from Lancashire died at just 25 after a burst cyst caused him to develop sepsis. Jordan Thomas passed away on Saturday, September 13, leaving behind his four-year-old daughter. The young father from Leyland was surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday after being in hospital for two days. JT, as he was lovingly known, was deeply involved in local football , playing for AFC Bamber, Buckshaw FC, and Sir Tom Finney FC, with his team mates setting up a fundraiser for his daughter and the funeral costs, which has gathered more than £4,000 in three days, Lancs Live reports . Matthew Bradshaw, club owner of AFC Bamber and Bamber MHFC, said: “JT (Jordan Thomas) was a kind and caring young lad. Only 25-years-old with a four-year-old daughter. He has a super passion for football and played all his life. He was a fantastic footballer as well and always wanted to help people become better. He had even ran some training sessions at AFC Bamber before to try and help the league lads. “Away from football he was all about his daughter, he absolutely loved her and always wanted the best for her. “It is a tragic thing that has happened. He was rushed into hospital on Thursday with a burst cyst which caused sepsis and unfortunately lost the battle a couple days later.” Join the Manchester Evening News WhatsApp group HERE On the fundraiser page, JT was described by the club as a ‘dear friend and teammate’ who had fought ‘bravely over the past few days’. The post read: “JT was with Bamber for a long time, both as part of the mental health side of the club and also spending time with the league team. He was one of the kindest, most caring people you could meet, always wanting to help others with football and help them improve. “He will be deeply missed by everyone at the club and beyond.” Donations are being taken on the GoFundMe page , where the club are approaching their £5,000 target for JT’s family.
