EXCLUSIVE: Lana Condor (To All the Boys franchise) has signed on to star in Whodunnit, a new romantic comedy to be directed by Nora Kirkpatrick (A Tree Fell in the Woods) for BuzzFeed Studios, CaliWood Pictures, Fortitude International, and Nickel City Pictures, which heads into production in Oregon this month. Written by Jessica Kravitz and Chelsea Catalanotto, with revisions by Kirkpatrick, the film follows Tess Klein, whose life was supposed to follow the plan: love by 25, marriage by 30, baby by 34. But after a spectacularly failed marriage proposal and one wild rebound weekend where her best friend Kelsey tells her “the only way to get over someone is to get under someone else,” Tess finds herself pregnant — and clueless about who the father is. As she sets out to solve the mystery, she discovers that sometimes the right family finds you. Among the producers, BuzzFeed Studios President Richard Alan Reid said, “Whodunnit is a hilarious modern comedy, and our director, Nora Kirkpatrick, has a very smart and exciting vision to bring the film to life. We’re thrilled to have endlessly talented Lana Condor lead our cast.” Reid will produce alongside Michael Philip for BuzzFeed Studios, along with Mark Fasano and Matthew Goldberg of Nickel City Pictures, and Mike Blutstein of Hooky Media. Nadine De Barros of Fortitude International and R. Wesley Sierk III, John D. Straley, Jina Panebianco, and Audra Gricius of CaliWood Pictures are executive producers. Fortitude International and BuzzFeed Studios are handling worldwide sales. Breaking out with her starring role in Netflix’s YA rom-com franchise To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, based on the novels by Jenny Han, Condor voiced the title role in DreamWorks’ Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken and has also been seen in films like Moonshot, Alita: Battle Angel, and Patriots Day, as well as series like Abbott Elementary and Deadly Class. Upcoming, she’ll be seen in the Amazon MGM action thriller Ballerina Overdrive, as well as Coyote vs. Acme, which releases next summer through Ketchup Entertainment after famously (and controversially) being shelved by Warner Bros Discovery. Most recently wrapping a lead role in Amazon MGM’s shark pic The Devil’s Mouth, she is represented by CAA, Untitled, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman. Kirkpatrick is coming off the Tribeca premiere of her debut feature, A Tree Fell in the Woods, starring Josh Gad, Alexandra Daddario, Daveed Diggs, and Ashley Park. She was a writer on Amazon’s hit series Daisy Jones & The Six and is a writer-producer on Amazon’s The Runarounds. A prolific director of commercials, she was previously a founding member and accordion player for the Grammy-winning and platinum-selling band Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. She is repped by CAA and TFC Management. Kravitz is represented by Echo Lake; Catalanotto by Gersh and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
