The Lagos State Police Command has announced the death of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Festac Division, CSP Matilda Ngbaronye, who died on Friday, October 24, 2025, after undergoing surgery at Mayriamville Medical Centre, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos. In a statement on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, expressed deep sorrow over her passing, describing her as “a truly upright and dedicated officer who served with unwavering professionalism and integrity.” The statement noted that until her death, CSP Ngbaronye was widely respected for her “diligence, discipline, and commitment to duty. The statement added that her “friendly disposition and humane approach to policing greatly helped to bridge the gap between the Police and the public she dutifully served.” ALSO READ: FG promises conducive environment for private energy investors The Command said the news of her death came as “a rude shock” to all officers and men of the Command. It added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohunnare Jimoh, had personally reached out to her husband and elder brother, a priest, to convey the Command’s condolences and support.
