Minnesota is a top shopping destination in the United States, primarily because it’s home to the Mall of America, the country’s largest shopping and entertainment complex, and also because the state offers the benefit of having no sales tax on clothing and shoes, which is a major draw for shoppers.
However, there are plenty of other great places to shop for clothes and more within the state, such as the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes in Maple Grove, which features approximately 412,000 square feet for shopping, plus dining options.
This week, the Shoppes announced that it would be adding a major American retailer next year, and the new 17,000 square foot store will be the retailer’s second in Minnesota.
L.L. Bean To Open New Store In Minnesota
The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes announced this week that it was proud to announce that L.L.Bean, an iconic outdoor-lifestyle brand, will open a 17,000 square foot store in the summer of 2026.
Founded in 1912, L.L.Bean is a major American retailer and one of the world’s largest outdoor specialty goods retailers, with 61 retail stores currently in 20 U.S. states, including a 220,000-square-foot flagship campus in Freeport, ME. The retailer also has a well-established online presence.
The company reported $1.7 billion in revenue in 2024 and is continuing to expand its retail footprint, including the new store in Minnesota. They currently have one location in the state, located at the Mall of America.
Michael Landstad, General Manager of The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes, says they are thrilled to welcome the new store, saying, “L.L.Bean’s offerings are a perfect fit for so many Minnesotans who value high-quality apparel and footwear for their outdoor lifestyle.”
To make room for the new store, demolition has already started at The Shoppes to combine four existing spaces across from H&M.
