Actor Kyle MacLachlan, who is in the cast of the new shot-in-Tulsa series “The Lowdown,” launched a new weekly podcast in collaboration with iHeartRadio’s Elvis Duran Podcast Network.
In the podcast — titled “What Are We Even Doing?” — MacLachlan chats with millennial and Gen Z actors, musicians, artists and creators to share stories about the entertainment industry’s past, present and future.
While conversations flow in unpredictable directions, each show ends the same way: with a special game tailored to each guest. The debut guest on Sept. 18 was Kaia Gerber, model, actress and co-founder of the book club Library Science.

New episodes launch every Thursday. Other upcoming guests: Dylan O’Brien, Benito Skinner, Grace Kuhlenschmidt, Julian Shapiro-Barnum, Willa Bennett, Caleb Hearon, Alana O’Herlihy and the actress known as Holmes.
“I’ve always been pretty quiet about my creative process — it’s not exactly the kind of thing actors sit around swapping notes on between takes,” MacLachlan said in a news release. “But I’ve gotten curious. So I thought, why not start talking with the next generation of actors, musicians and creators to hear how they do it — and maybe finally figure out what ‘chopped’ means while I’m at it. I’m thrilled I got to dream this up with my creative team at Full Picture, and even more excited to launch it with the Elvis Duran Podcast Network and iHeartRadio. If anyone can help a 66-year-old actor keep up with Gen Z, it’s them.”

The podcast was created and is executive produced by Full Picture Productions, the production arm of Full Picture, a creative agency founded by Desiree Gruber, who is married to MacLachlan.
Gruber comments: “I couldn’t be more excited about Kyle diving headfirst into decoding today’s culture with his trademark wit. Honestly, I’m just relieved it might finally help me understand our 17-year-old over breakfast. Bring on the tea — I’ve got my mug ready.”
