KUWAIT: The Powerboat and Wakeboard Committee at the Kuwait Sea Sports Club is intensifying preparations to host the second round of the 2025 World Powerboat Championship for the X CAT class, scheduled from November 19 to 22 under the patronage of Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi. The championship will be conducted under the supervision of the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) and the umbrella of the Supreme Committee for Organizing International and Global Events, chaired by Minister Al-Mutairi. In a press statement on Wednesday, Championship Director and Head of the Committee at the club, Ali Al-Shamali, said the event will take place at Marina Waves. He confirmed that the schedule for the round has been finalized and highlighted that UIM President Rafael Chiulli will be in attendance. Al-Shamali added that the round will feature strong international participation, with racers representing 12 countries. Kuwait will compete with the boat Muthir 17, helmed by Abdul Latif Al-Omani, alongside his assistants Khaled Karam and Bader Al-Dosari. He emphasized that hosting the championship marks a first for Kuwait, representing a significant achievement for the country. Al-Shamali also noted that the tournament will receive extensive live media coverage, including Kuwait TV’s sports channel, Dubai Sports Channel, Abu Dhabi Sports Channel, Sky Sports, major European social media platforms, and live streaming on YouTube. — KUNA
