"The Kurnool bus tragedy that claimed the lives of at least 20 people has Odisha links, as the vehicle owner has turned out to be a resident from Rayagada district.Advertisment As per reports, the vehicle has been officially registered with the Rayagada Transport Office. Authorities have identified the owner as Venkatesh Walu Bhemuri, a resident of Saipriya Nagar in Rayagada town. District Collector Kulkarni Ashutosh C, confirmed that an investigation is currently underway to ascertain whether the bus was operating illegally or in accordance with the law. Meanwhile, an Odia youth is reportedly among the deceased in the tragic Bengaluru-bound bus that caught fire and turned into ashes after hitting a bike in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool. “We learned lately that the Bengaluru-Chennai bus has owner registration in Rayagada. The RTO is also investigating the case. A case will also be filed against the owner. I think the Andhra police might have registered a case against the owner by now. They might also come here for the investigation. If they come, we will cooperate in the investigation. For now, I have directed the RTO to probe when and how the approval was given,” informed Rayagada Collector Kulkarni Ashutosh C."
