The large-scale turmoil and subsequent collapse of the elected government headed by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Nepal has deepened the political crisis in the Himalayan nation. In the midst of this, several names have emerged as possible contenders to head the interim government in the Himalayan nation. The latest addition to this list is Kulman Ghising. Kulman Ghising is a former electricity board CEO and is widely credited for ending years of load-sharing in Nepal. Ghising has been regarded as the person to put an end to power cuts in the Himalayan nation. Kulman Ghising has completed his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Regional Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, India. He has also earned a master’s degree in power systems engineering from the Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk, Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Ghising began his career at the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) in 1994. He served as the Managing Director and the Executive Director of the NEA before being removed from the position in March this year. Multiple Names In Fray: Who Will Be Nepal’s PM? Nepal’s former chief justice Sushila Karki, Kathmandu mayor Balendra Shah and former electricity board Kulman Ghising are among the names under consideration by the protesting Gen Z group to lead an interim government in Nepal. Kulman Ghising’s name was not initially in the fray, as the Gen Z protestors suggested that Sushila Karki must lead the interim government. However, later in the day, the protesters said, “Since Balendra Sah has not shown interest, Hark Sampang has little chance of leading everyone, and Sushila Karki is incompetent and over 70 years of age, it has been decided to send Engineer Kulman Ghising, a patriotic person and everyone’s favorite, to lead the interim government.” Read More: Nepal’s Gen-Z Protestors Now Back Kulman Ghising As Their PM; Balen Shah, Sushila Karki No Longer In Running The representatives of the Gen Z group met Nepal’s President, Ramchandra Paudel and Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel at the army headquarters in Bhadrakali to run an interim government.
