Kukurantumi Police Station was closed,Following violent attacks by enraged youngsters

Following violent attacks by furious youngsters, the police administration closed the Kukurantumi Police Station in the Eastern Region and withdrew all of its staff.
The attack happened on Sunday, September 21, 2025, following the murder of a suspect, Bright Kena, also known as D-ball, according to the Eastern Regional Police Command.

Before he passed away, he was being treated at the Community Hospital in Kukurantumi after being arrested for theft and breaking and entering.

The barracks and police station were overrun by irate youths who threw clubs, stones, and other weapons at them. They tried to burn the place down.
To bring peace and order back, a police reinforcement team was sent out right away.
Since then, the Regional Command has contacted the family and local authorities, promising them a comprehensive inquiry.

The Criminal Investigations Department and the Police Professional Standards Bureau are investigating the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s death.
The attack’s video footage is being examined. Perpetrators will be found, detained, and charged, according to the police.
Instead of using violence to settle disputes, the Command has advised the public to use legal channels.
