Kathmandu: KP Sharma the ousted prime minister of Nepal and the chairman of CPN-UML for the first time addressed the Gen-Z protesters. In a written message KP Oli expressed his sorrow over the violent protests in Nepal. He also appealed for peace and called on all sides to engage in dialogue. Oli claimed that he is in Shivpuri under a secure military cordon. Earlier there were speculations that Oli had fled the country. Rumors suggested he had gone to Dubai. In his address to the nation Oli paid tribute to the young people who lost their lives in police firing during the protests. Playing the emotional card he mentioned that he has no children of his own.
Oli said Because of the hardships inflicted by the state during the struggle for change I could not have children but the desire to be a father never died. He recalled his tenure as Home Minister in 1994 emphasizing that under his administration no bullets were fired and reiterated his commitment to peace.
Accused of misleading the protesters
He accused the forces behind the ongoing protests of exploiting young demonstrators to carry out destructive activities. He wrote The arson and vandalism at key government offices did not happen suddenly. Your innocent faces are being used for politics of deception.
During his address the former prime minister reiterated his firm stance on national issues including Nepal’s claims over Lipulekh Kalapani and Limpiyadhura and declared that protecting democratic governance. This message came amid growing unrest where Gen-Z protests that began on Monday have left 30 people dead.
