The cause of death remains unclear, and police suspect foul play due to inconsistent statements from his companions. The deceased, Anshuman Bhatra, son of JJ Kumar Bhatra from Aditya Nagar, had gone to Kechela with three friends. Around 6 PM, one of the friends brought Anshuman in an unconscious state to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Following the incident, Anshuman’s family and other acquaintances reached the hospital and questioned the circumstances surrounding his death. One friend reportedly kept changing his version of events, which raised doubts. Police from Koraput Sadar Station detained the friend for questioning and registered a case of unnatural death. Two other youths who accompanied Anshuman reportedly left the scene, adding complexity to the investigation. Police are now probing multiple angles to determine what led to the sudden death. The body will undergo post-mortem today before being handed over to the family.
