Kolkata News: Kolkata, already renowned worldwide for its spectacular Durga Puja celebrations, added another unforgettable highlight to its festive legacy this year. On the evening of 22 September 2025, the city witnessed its largest-ever drone show at Park Circus Maidan, blending tradition with cutting-edge technology in a dazzling display of light and artistry. Organised by Uddipani in collaboration with Botlab Dynamics, the event brought together innovation and culture, creating a visual spectacle that mesmerised thousands of attendees. The show began around 7.30 pm at the eastern side of Park Circus Maidan, near Don Bosco School, and was open to the public, drawing crowds eager to witness the unprecedented aerial performance. Video: The highlight of the evening was a synchronised performance involving over 600 drones choreographed with remarkable precision. Together, they painted the night sky with intricate light formations deeply rooted in the spirit of Durga Puja. Audiences were treated to a visual narrative that included classic Bengali art patterns and iconic motifs such as lotus flowers, tridents, and the rhythmic beat of dhak drums. In a breathtaking sequence, the drones even animated the legendary battle between Maa Durga and the demon Mahishasura, bringing movement, drama, and triumph to life through a symphony of light. Reds, greens, golds, and whites dominated the choreography, symbolising energy, prosperity, purity, and victory, values deeply embedded in the festival’s celebrations. The performance was not just a display of technical brilliance but a cultural statement, merging the grandeur of Durga Puja with the possibilities of modern technology. For the crowd gathered under the night sky, the spectacle was a reminder of Kolkata’s ability to honour tradition while embracing innovation.
