Kolkata police on Monday busted a football match-fixing racket in the Premier Division of the Kolkata Football League. A case was registered based on a complaint lodged by SI (ARS) Sandip Dutta. As per the police, two individuals were arrested in relation with the case. The preliminary inquiry revealed that the accused individuals entered into a criminal conspiracy and defrauded the Indian Football Association (IFA) by fixing football matches in exchange for large monetary benefits. Kolkata police shared the update on X and wrote, “Acting on credible information, Kolkata Police has busted a match-fixing and betting racket operating in the Premier Division of the Kolkata Football League. Two persons, including the president/manager of a city-based football club, have been arrested. The accused will be produced before the Ld. Court tomorrow. The case has been registered under Sections 61(2), 318(4), and 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with Section 66 read with Section 43 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
