Knifeman who choked his seven-year-old little brother shot dead by police

A knifeman was shot dead by police after a terrifying stand-off — while choking his seven-year-old brother. Shocking bodycam footage shows the moment a police officer acted as Mario Camacho had the boy in a chokehold. Video from the deputy's body-worn camera captures him shouting orders for the man to open the door and release the child, but there was no reply. After repeated warnings went ignored, the officer kicked at the door, bursting it open on the third attempt. Cops in the US state of Florida said they were forced to act as the young boy could have been injured even worse. Camacho, 27, was eventually taken to hospital for a gunshot wound to the head , but was pronounced dead a short time later. The horrifying stand-off began when police were called to deal with an incident in the town of Brandon, near Tampa. Cops arrived and found Camacho had barricaded himself into a bedroom with his younger brother. Footage from the policeman's bodycam shows the force trying to calmly deal with the situation by ordering him to open the door. Inside, the suspect could be seen hiding behind a makeshift barricade, wearing a motorbike helmet and clutching the terrified youngster as a human shield. He kept the boy in a tight chokehold and refused to show his hands. As tensions grew, the deputy can be heard warning Camacho: "I'll kill you if you don't let me see your hands right now." After Camacho once again refused to listen to their demands, police fired a single shot to his head and he fell to the floor, taking his younger brother with him. Officers immediately rushed to check on the condition of the boy, who had been shaken but unharmed by the incident on Sunday, November 2. Police said Camacho wearing two bulletproof vests, whilst brandishing a knife as he carried out the attack. He was struck once in the head and later died in hospital. The officer who fired the fatal shot was named as 25-year-old Deputy Antonio Gonzalez, a nearly six-year veteran of the force. He has since been placed on leave pending a standard investigation. The 911 call that sparked the ordeal was made by Camacho's sister, who suffered minor injuries. Police say the motive remains unclear, although local outlets report Camacho had previously faced two domestic-violence charges, was never convicted, and was believed to have struggled with mental health issues.
