ESPN’s ‘College GameDay’ kicked off in Happy Valley on Saturday as No. 3-ranked Penn State gets set to try to face No. 6-ranked Oregon in an electric Big Ten clash.
Not only will this be a huge test for two undefeated teams, but it’ll be a chance at redemption for the Nittany Lions as they lost to the Ducks 45-37 in last year’s Big Ten Championship game.
Both teams have been impressive thus far, but neither has faced a ranked opponent yet. In a white-out game at night for Penn State, it’ll be an uphill battle for Oregon as it will come in on the road and try to get a win in a tough environment.

Kirk Herbstreit Picks Ducks QB Dante Moore as His Heisman Favorite
Ahead of Saturday’s matchup, ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit predicted that Ducks quarterback Dante Moore will win the Heisman Trophy following a thumb injury suffered by Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer.

Herbstreit’s pick is a bold one given Moore is about to face his toughest test to date against the No. 3 team in the country. Through four games this season, Moore’s completed 74.7% of his passes for 962 yards, 11 touchdowns, and just one interception. He’s also added another 87 yards on the ground.
His biggest Heisman competition currently is Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza, who has been otherworldly this season, throwing 14 touchdowns and zero interceptions in his first four games. He also led Indiana to a dominating 63-10 victory over the then No. 9-ranked Illinois in its first game of the season.
While Mendoza definitely has the edge currently, Moore will have two solid opportunities to claim his spot at the top of the race. The first is this highly anticipated matchup against Penn State. If Moore can lead the Ducks to an upset on the road in an electric environment, he’ll have a very strong case.
That said, his most important opportunity to impress Heisman voters will come on Oct. 11 when Oregon squares off with head-to-head with Mendoza and Indiana in what should be an exciting matchup.
