Struggling with your smartphone? Help is on the way as Kingsport Parks and Recreation Department is set to offer a "Cell Phone 101" class, designed to school residents on the basics of their devices. Scheduled for November 6, this free class aimed at individuals aged 18 and over will be held at V.O. Dobbins, Sr. Complex's Eastman Conference Room, making technology less daunting for those who find smart devices too smart for their own good. From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., attendees can expect a hands-on, step-by-step guide through essential phone skills including making calls, texting, adjusting volume, adding contacts, and participants will also learn about taking photos connecting to Wi-Fi and the use of helpful apps, a response to the evolving labyrinth that is modern technology, the class will not be exclusive, covering both Apple and Samsung cell phones, ensuring no one is left behind in our rapidly digitizing world. In a press statement, Michael Morris, the program coordinator, emphasized the inclusive nature of the session, "No question is too small. Our goal is to help you feel confident and in control of your phone," according to Kingsporttn.gov. Understanding that with each upgrade and new release, even the simplest of tasks can require reeducation, the Parks and Recreation Department is creating a communal space where learning is not only encouraged but celebrated.
