Kim Kardashian faces backlash as it’s announced she’s opening SKIMS stores across Israel

People are calling for Kim Kardashian to be boycotted, after it was announced that her lingerie and shapewear brand SKIMS will soon be officially sold in Israel. Up until now, SKIMS shapewear has only been accessible in Israel through informal import channels, however on Tuesday it was announced the brand had signed an exclusive partnership with Israeli fashion distributor Irani Corp, the parent company of Israeli retailer Factory 54. While many Israelis reacted to the news with excitement, it was greeted with outrage elsewhere. One anti-Israel influencer wrote: “Watch the boycotts come your way @skims @kimkardashian "The @bds.movement needs to take notes on this family. They are building an empire on morals promoting apartheid and silent on genocide.” This isn’t the first time the billionaire influencer has clashed with the pro-Palestine crowd. In May 2024, she was interrupted by an audience member who screamed "Free Palestine” at her during a panel discussion at a marketing event in Germany. As the disruptive woman was escorted out of the event space, Kardashian reiterated her stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict, saying “Free everybody”. Footage of Kardashian’s spontaneous response quickly circulated online, drawing both support and criticism. In response to one such incident, Kim tweeted, “Hate speech is never OK or excusable. I stand together with the Jewish community and call on the terrible violence and hateful rhetoric towards them to come to an immediate end.” View this post on Instagram A statement from Factory 54 said the collaboration “reflects a long-term vision to build a meaningful commercial and community presence in Israel, delivering an international-calibre shopping experience that embodies SKIMS’ values of innovation and comfort.” SKIMS will be available on Factory 54’s website from early November. Plans for between ten and fifteen standalone stores are also underway, with the first two opening at BIG Fashion Glilot and Ramat Aviv Mall, both in Tel Aviv, in December.
