A killer has confessed to murdering a woman whose body has never been found. Concerns were raised over Julie Buckley, 55, in early February. Police investigations later revealed she had not been seen since January 28. When officers went to her home on February 13, they discovered blood around the property which was later forensically linked to her. Karl Hutchings was arrested later that day, Cambridgeshire Police said. Detectives believe he killed her on January 3 before using bank cards and selling her possessions. Hutchings, 48, from Christchurch, Dorset, pleaded guilty to murdering his victim when he appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Monday, September 15. Det Chief Insp Richard Stott said: “It quickly became apparent something serious had happened to Julie, given the abrupt and complete halt in her communications from January 28. “I am pleased Hutchings has finally decided to take responsibility for what he has done and, while it won’t help the pain Julie’s family are feeling, it will make the process easier for them. “I hope he will now tell us where he has left her body, so she can be laid to rest with dignity.” Ms Buckley lived at The Hill, Christchurch, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Police previously said she was last seen on CCTV footage at a Budgens supermarket in the nearby town of March on January 28. Mr Stott previously said dive teams had been searching the water around the Bedlam Bridge and Boots Bridge areas. A fisherman discovered what was believed to be human hair in the water, he said. Hutchings is due to be sentenced on October 24. Don’t miss the biggest and breaking stories by signing up to the BirminghamLive newsletter here .
