KGH Auxiliary's 2025 Teddy Bear Campaign to raise money for pediatric ultrasound machine

The Kingston General Hospital (KGH) Auxiliary’s 2025 Teddy Bear Campaign will once again provide funds for new equipment for the Pediatric Program at Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC). Since its beginning in 2004, the campaign has raised more than half a million dollars, helping to improve care for KHSC’s youngest patients, according to a release from the hospital organization. The campaign kicked off today, Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, and will run until Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025. “This campaign is one of the many meaningful ways the KGH Auxiliary supports patient care across our hospitals and helps enhance services for children and their families,” said Lynda Laird, manager of Volunteer Services at KHSC. “We are grateful to all the sponsors who have supported the Teddy Bear Campaign over the years, and we hope we can count on everyone to support this worthwhile campaign once again.” Part of a two-year effort, the Auxiliary has committed its Teddy Bear Campaign to once again raise funds for a point-of-care ultrasound machine. As previously reported, the point-of-care ultrasound is an important tool that can be used to deliver timely care for infants, toddlers, and children of all ages. It avoids the need for a patient to be transferred to a separate ultrasonography room because the portable ultrasound can be brought to wherever the patient is located. “This year, our goal is to complete that commitment and bring this essential piece of equipment on site, ensuring our pediatric teams have the tools they need for faster diagnoses and improved patient comfort,” said Chelsea Reynolds, president of the KGH Auxiliary and member of the Teddy Bear Campaign Committee. According to KHSC, through last year’s campaign, more than 300 teddy bears were distributed to young patients receiving care in eight departments between the Kingston General Hospital and Hotel Dieu Hospital sites, as well as at the Weeneebayko General Hospital in Moose Factory. “Sponsoring a teddy bear for $100 is an expression of caring from people in our community, because caring creates a work of heart,” said Reynolds. “Your contribution truly makes a difference and helps us provide the best possible care for our children.” The 2025 bear will be available for sponsorship from Nov. 10 to Dec. 23, and can be purchased by calling 613-549-6666 ext. 6352, completing the donation brochure, or by visiting Canada Helps and selecting “Campaign Teddy Bear 2025” in the Donation Details section. “We’re counting on your support to help make this year’s goal a reality,” said Reynolds.
