Key points from Trump's speech at the American Business Forum

On the one-year anniversary of winning the United States presidency, President Donald Trump spoke at the American Business Forum in Miami, Florida, about the economic victories the country has seen since he took office in January. Trump said deregulation, tax cuts and tariffs have boosted the American economy since Jan. 20, 2025. He said he expects investments in the United States to reach $21 billion this year, which is a twenty-fold increase since Biden’s final year in office. The stock market is at a record high, GDP growth was nearly 4% in the last quarter, and every job added to the economy has been in the private sector, Trump said. After Republicans lost key races in the off-season elections on Tuesday, Trump’s speech mainly focused on how the right can win by focusing on the free market and the American Dream. “From day one of my administration through every single day, I’ve been fighting to turn around the catastrophe we’ve inherited to make America the best place on the planet to do business,” Trump said. Trump said his goal is to have the lowest tax rates, the lowest energy costs, the lowest regulatory burden, the most advanced technology and the lowest trade deals of anywhere on Earth. Trump denounces socialism, following Zohran Mamdani’s win in NYC Before winning the election, Democratic nominee Mamdani had gathered endorsements from New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Reps. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. Mamdani pulled in 50.4% of the vote in New York City. “If you want to see what congressional Democrats wish to do with America, just look at the results of yesterday’s election in New York, where their party installed a communist as the mayor of the largest city in the country,” Trump said. He continued, “Miami will soon be the refuge for those fleeing communism in New York City.” “Our opponents are using an economic nightmare. We’re delivering an economic miracle... They want higher spending for government and illegal aliens, and we want bigger paychecks for American workers and American families. They stand for crime and corruption, and we stand for law and order and justice,” Trump said. Mamdani’s campaign promises belong to “failed and discredited ideologies of the past,” Trump said. “The communists, socialists, marxists and globalists had their chance, they delivered nothing but disaster.” Socialism and communism’s “day is over, their grip is broken and their time is absolutely done. The golden age of America has begun, and we’re just getting started,” Trump said. Trump references the tide-change on climate change Last week, billionaire Bill Gates published a memo in which he reversed his stance on the seriousness of climate change. In it, he wrote, “Although climate change will have serious consequences — particularly for people in the poorest countries — it will not lead to humanity’s demise.” Trump responded on Truth Social, “I (WE!) just won the War on the Climate Change Hoax. Bill Gates has finally admitted that he was completely WRONG on the issue. It took courage to do so, and for that we are all grateful. MAGA!!!” On stage in Florida, President Trump referenced this debacle and said, “My policy was very simple. It was, ‘Drill, baby, drill.’”
