Kevin Stefanski ends Shedeur Sanders speculation with latest Browns QB decision after 27-20 loss to Jets

Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski revealed his pick for the team's starting quarterback after the Browns lost to the New York Jets on Sunday. The AFC North team couldn't keep up with Justin Fields and Co., but was still able to score 20 points. After the game ended, Stefanski explained his plans at quarterback. Calls have mounted for Shedeur Sanders to start over Dillon Gabriel, but Stefanski isn't making any changes right now."We’re gonna stick with Dillon. Obviously, this is a young player," Stefanski said, via Tony Grossi, adding that the Browns need to perform better. "We have to play better as an offense."Dillon Gabriel didn't have the most spectacular game, but he still went 17 of 32 for 167 yards and two touchdowns. The former Oregon star added five carries for 54 yards. The Jets won their second game of the season, although Justin Fields had a discreet game. He went 6 of 11 for just 54 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The Jets' special teams stole the show on Sunday, with Kene Nwangwu returning a kick to the end zone, while Isaiah Williams returned a punt to help his team win this game.Shedeur Sanders has yet to take the field this season, and nothing suggests Kevin Stefanski will change his mind in the foreseeable future. Browns reporter questioned Kevin Stefanski, Browns, over Shedeur Sanders' lack of opportunitiesOn Wednesday, during his “The Tony Rizzo Show” on 850 ESPN Cleveland, Cleveland sports analyst Tony Rizzo questioned why Kevin Stefanski hasn't given Shedeur Sanders a chance to start for the Browns. He speculated whether somebody was pulling the strings in the shadows.“What is going on behind the scenes?” Rizzo asked. “How can this kid that was rated as a late 1st round draft pick not get on a field for a team that sucks. They’re not even giving him reps. That’s on the coach, (Kevin) Stefanski is gonna have to answer for that; it might come at the end of the year, and it might come in the form of firing.“What is going on? Does he even have a say in this? Is someone in the front office saying, ‘Don’t play him’? Clearly, someone doesn’t like him or someone–How are you not ready to play? He’s been here since April. I find it hard to believe that that kid isn’t ready to play.”The Browns will return to the field next Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
