Kevin Reilly has landed in another executive role leading an AI firm. The former WarnerMedia exec has been tapped as the CEO of Kartel, a company that develops AI systems for Fortune 500 brands, agencies, and studios. His appointment comes just over five years after departing WarnerMedia amid waves of restructuring at the media company. “Kartel is where imagination meets engineering – a platform built to help brands move at the speed of culture,” Reilly said in a statement. “I’ve spent my career at the intersection of culture and commerce, nurturing unique voices and scaling valuable brands and IP. Kartel is built to be a trusted partner for brands seeking to empower their unique DNA with AI systems and solutions at scale.” Reilly will be based in Kartel’s Beverly Hills office. Prior to joining Kartel, Reilly held executive positions across some of the major Hollywood studios including HBO, Fox, NBC and FX. He is known for shepherding some of television’s most enduring franchises including The Sopranos, The Office, Glee, 30 Rock, Rick and Morty, and ER. He later served as Chief Content Officer at HBO Max, where he built and scaled the platform’s content strategy and led the integration of multiple divisions around the new product launch under WarnerMedia. He exited the company in 2020. Reilly began to signal his interest in AI when he joined the advisory board of an AI tech startup called DeepDub in 2021. The Israel-based DeepDub, which launched in 2019, uses artificial intelligence tools to provide localized entertainment programming. Says Kartel co-founder Ben Kusin: “Kevin has always been at the forefront of cultural and technological shifts, from greenlighting genre-defining shows to launching billion-dollar platforms. With AI reshaping how creative work gets done, there’s no one better to lead Kartel’s mission to scale high-quality content without compromising voice or craft.”
