Keshorn Walcott Wins Javelin Gold At World Athletics Championships, Anderson Peters Takes Silver

Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott defeated the star-studded line-up of Neeraj Chopra, Arshad Nadeem, Anderson Peters and Julian Weber on Thursday, September 18, to win the gold medal of the men’s javelin throw event of the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. The 32-year-old athlete touched the distance of 88.16 m in his fourth attempt, which helped him finish at the top.
India’s Neeraj Chopra, who was the defending champion, finished 8th with the best throw of 84.03 m, and Pakistan’s Nadeem finished 10th in the final with a distance of 82.75 m.
India’s Sachin Yadav registered the best throw of 86.27 m, which helped him finish fourth.
Anderson Peters of Grenada, who won World Championships gold medal in 2019 and 2022 finished second with a best throw of 87.38 m and the bronze medal was bagged by Curtis Thompson of USA, who touched the distance of 86.67 m.

Walcott touched the distance of 81.22 m in his first attempt and followed it up by touching distances of 87.83 m, 81.65 m, 88.16 m, 85.84 m and 83.00 m in the next five attempts.
Peters, on the other hand, registered scores of 84.59 m, 87.38 m, 82.83 m, 83.62 m, 84.19 m and 86.26 m.
