Kerala Launches ‘Career Prayanam’ Digital Career Guide for Students

The Kerala government has launched 'Career Prayanam', a digital platform aimed at providing comprehensive career guidance for students. Inaugurated by Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty, the initiative offers detailed information on over 400 career options, 900 educational institutions, and 1,000 employers, all categorised into 24 career areas. Supporting Student Choices The platform is designed to assist students currently enrolled in SSLC, Plus Two, and degree programmes in making informed career decisions. Accessible at www.careerprayanam.education.kerala.gov.in, the portal features a fully responsive design, ensuring seamless usability on smartphones and other devices. Students can explore fields of interest or search for specific careers, with each listing providing essential insights. These include entry pathways, eligibility criteria, required skills, course options, career ladders, industry details, responsibilities, certifications, and opportunities for further education. The platform also outlines the potential challenges associated with each career, offering a realistic perspective on various professions. Comprehensive Features and Real-Time Updates Beyond career profiles, 'Career Prayanam' delivers real-time updates on admissions, notifications, competitive exams, and scholarships. It also includes links to national and state-level educational institutions, entrance exam portals, and job-search websites. Additionally, students can access expert guidance on career planning and information on the Kerala Differential Aptitude Test (KDAT), which assesses individual aptitudes. Officials noted that this initiative represents a significant advancement in integrating technology with career education, helping students align their aspirations with available opportunities in a structured manner. KITE, the Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education agency, is responsible for developing digital tools that enhance educational access across the state. A Step Towards Modernising Education The launch of 'Career Prayanam' is expected to bridge the gap between student aspirations and career opportunities, equipping young individuals with the knowledge necessary to navigate their future paths. By providing a single platform for career exploration, the Kerala government aims to empower students to make confident decisions about their professional journeys. (With inputs from agencies)
