Kelly Osbourne set up a surprise for her mom, Sharon, in honor of her 73rd birthday, the first since the death of family patriarch Ozzy Osbourne. On Oct. 9, Kelly posted an Instagram video to reveal she snuck into her mom’s room to decorate it for her special day.
“Shhhhhhh,” Kelly said in the video. “So it’s my mom’s birthday today. And I just decorated her room… and she’s still sleeping.”
The camera panned to dozens of balloons and presents scattered all over the large bedroom in the family’s Buckinghamshire mansion. Sharon was asleep with a dog—and a giant stuffed panda—on her bed.
Kelly’s post was shared soon after her brother, Jack, posted to Instagram to wish their mom a happy birthday. Jack shared a slow-motion clip of his mom catching a white owl while at a falconry. “Happy birthday mum,” he wrote.
In past years, Ozzy also surprised Sharon on her birthday. In 2016, when she was a co-host on The Talk, the rocker unexpectedly turned up onstage with flowers and a jewelry box as his song “Crazy Train” blared in the background. “Happy birthday, darling,” he said to his stunned wife as he presented her with the birthday gifts.

Oct. 9 marked Sharon’s first birthday since the death of her husband of 43 years. The rock legend died July 22 at age 76, just 17 days after performing his final Black Sabbath concert, Back to the Beginning.
In the new documentary Ozzy: No Escape From Now, Ozzy and Sharon revealed they were looking forward to enjoying life together after wrapping the Back to the Beginning farewell show on July 5.
“I’m looking forward to getting this gig over, hanging my mic up, and spending some time with you,” Ozzy said to his wife in the documentary scene filmed weeks before his death. “After this gig, we’re free.”
“I just want to live a life. That’s all I want to do,” Sharon agreed.
Aside from the falconry visit, Sharon has not appeared in public since her husband’s funeral in July.
