If you are falling for the big bikes and planning to buy one, two names often stand out which are the Kawasaki Z900 and the Honda CB650R. Both are naked sport bikes with four-cylinder engines which offer a mix of style, sound and performance. But while they may look similar at first, they are designed for very different types of riders. PriceThe Kawasaki Z900 is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) which is a high-performance machine built for thrill-seekers. It is equipped with a powerful 948cc inline-four engine that produces around 124 bhp and 98 Nm of torque, which makes it one of the most exciting naked bikes in its class, capable of high acceleration and high-speed performance. On the other hand, the Honda CB650R is priced slightly higher at Rs 10.30 lakh (ex-showroom) and features a smaller 649cc inline-four engine which produces 94 bhp and 63 Nm of torque. While it is not as aggressive as the Z900, but it is smoother and more predictable which makes it easier to control and is perfect for new or intermediate riders. Technology and FeaturesWhen it comes to technology and features, both motorbikes serve us with modern equipments. The Z900 includes a TFT display with Bluetooth, multiple riding modes like Sport, Road, Rain, and Rider, cruise control and cornering ABS, which adjusts braking based on lean angle. These features make it feel premium and performance-focused. Whereas the CB650R adds an innovative feature which is called the E-Clutch that allows clutch-less gear changes ideal for reducing fatigue during long commutes or city traffic. Comfort and HandlingIn terms of comfort and handling, the Honda CB650R has a slight edge for everyday use as it is lighter at around 205 kg, with Showa SFF-BP front forks that provide a balanced and comfortable ride. Its upright seating position makes it great for city riding and long-distance trips. Whereas, the Kawasaki Z900 slightly heavier at 212 kg, has an adjustable suspension setup and a sportier riding position which is designed for sharp cornering and aggressive handling. However, this makes it a bit more challenging to ride in traffic or at low speeds. DesignThe Z900 follows Kawasaki’s signature “Sugomi” design language, which gives it a muscular, edgy, and intimidating look, as it looks every bit like a street fighter. The Honda CB650R, meanwhile, takes the Neo Sports Café approach that blends modern technology with retro-inspired styling. Its round LED headlamp, sculpted fuel tank and minimalist lines give it an elegant appeal. PracticalityWhen it comes to everyday practicality, the CB650R is easier to handle as it is smoother, slightly more fuel-efficient and requires less maintenance. The Z900, however, offers better value for performance which is more power for a slightly lower price. But it is not beginner-friendly as it demands more control and experience from the rider. Both bikes are fantastic in their own way. The Z900 is the powerhouse for thrill-seekers, while the CB650R is the smooth operator that delivers everyday comfort with a touch of class.
