From Agaju Madugba, Katsina
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has congratulated the people of Katsina and Nigerians as the nation marks its 65th Independence Day anniversary. He described the anniversary as a moment to reflect on Nigeria’s journey toward unity and progress, and to renew collective commitment to building a secure and prosperous nation.
Radda, in his Independence Day message, acknowledged the challenges facing the country, particularly insecurity, but expressed confidence that Nigeria could overcome its trials through shared responsibility and citizen engagement.
“As we celebrate 65 years of independence, we must recognise that nation-building is a shared responsibility. The security challenges confronting our dear nation require all hands to be on deck,” he stated.
He urged citizens to actively partner with the government at all levels in the fight against insecurity, emphasising that security agencies alone cannot succeed without public cooperation.
“Security is everyone’s business. Regardless of ethnic or religious background, I urge every Nigerian to report suspicious activities, share credible intelligence and support our security personnel in their efforts to keep us safe,” the Governor appealed.
He commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for prioritising national security and implementing economic reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth.
He also praised the resilience and patriotism of Nigerians, describing them as the country’s greatest asset.
“Our strength as a nation lies in our diversity and unity of purpose. When we work together, there is no challenge too difficult to overcome,” he said.
Reassuring the people of Katsina State, the Governor reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives, promoting welfare and driving inclusive development.
He called on citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant and supportive of the government’s initiatives designed to enhance security and accelerate progress.
“As we mark this significant milestone, let us rededicate ourselves to the ideals of justice, peace and progress that our founding fathers envisioned for this great nation.”
He wished all Nigerians a joyful Independence Day celebration and prayed for enduring peace, unity and prosperity across the country.
