Kate Garraway says 'I've got that in my family' as she seeks diagnosis after Celebrity Traitors

Kate Garraway has shared that she's seeking a diagnosis for a health condition after speaking to a fellow star during her time on Celebrity Traitors. The Good Morning Britain presenter, who was ousted in the eighth episode of the popular BBC show hosted by Claudia Winkleman, revealed that she's pursuing a diagnosis for a condition which, according to the NHS , means the brain "works differently to most people". It turns out that the 58-year-old Good Morning Britain (GMB) host is seeking a diagnosis for ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), having talked to fellow Celebrity Traitors star Cat Burns "about their life". People with ADHD typically struggle with inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity , exhibiting symptoms such as forgetfulness, easy distraction, difficulty following instructions, and losing items. Speaking to The Sun on Sunday , Kate said: "Talking to people like Cat about their music and about their life - she's autistic and ADHD and I've got that in my family." She added: "And actually, I'm in the process of an ADHD diagnosis myself. In fact, I think it's pretty clear I am. So it's fascinating to see how it manifested for her." Singer-songwriter Cat confirmed on the show that she indeed has both conditions, explaining that it "takes a lot more effort" when she's "around people a lot". In additional remarks, Kate revealed her thoughts on how her late husband, Derek Draper , who tragically died in January 2024, aged 56, following health complications from Covid-19, might react to her role on Celebrity Traitors. She added that he "would've absolutely loved" to see her taking part and would've watched the show and said, "How could you not see this?!" The NHS outlined that other potential symptoms of ADHD include exhibiting increased energy and restlessness, being chatty or interrupting, and making quick decisions without considering potential consequences. It highlighted that symptoms typically emerge before the age of 12 and that it's thought the condition is identified less frequently in women. The NHS suggested this could be because they more commonly exhibit inattentive symptoms. According to the health service, these symptoms may be harder to recognise than hyperactive symptoms. Meanwhile, Kate recently discussed her exit from Celebrity Traitors during a recent GMB appearance and revealed her predictions for the winner (the final episode is scheduled to air on Thursday, 6 November). When asked who it might be, she said: "I genuinely don't know," before adding: "I'd love it to be a Faithful, I think Nick is brilliant, I think Joe M is coming through brilliantly." However, she suspects it might be someone else: "I have a sneaky feeling it's going to be a Traitor and I have a sneaky feeling it's going to be Alan, I think he's a mega-star. "But I don't know, that's just me saying what I think." You can learn more about ADHD on the NHS website .
