Minister for Large and Medium Industries M.B. Patil on Wednesday inaugurated a new, state-of-the-art facility of Rangsons Aerospace, a Mysuru-based company that has entered into a partnership with Boeing. On the occasion, the Minister distributed certificates to 60 ITI graduates trained by the company under its skill development programme. After the inauguration, Mr. Patil said that it was remarkable that the Rangsons family, which is primarily involved with agarbati (incense stick) business, had now made a mark in the aerospace sector. Establishing a new office adjacent to their existing facility reflected their vision for development, the Minister said, adding that the Industries Department would extend full cooperation to such progressive enterprises. Commending Boeing’s collaboration with Rangsons Aerospace, Mr. Patil said that the facility houses cutting-edge production systems and modern engineering laboratories. The Minister underlined the importance of skill training in the aerospace sector. “It is encouraging that Rangsons Aerospace is providing hands-on training to the youth, and about 70% of the trainees are being employed by the company itself. This offers opportunities right at their doorstep. The government will continue to support such joint ventures,” he said. Karnataka in the lead Elaborating on Karnataka’s leadership in aerospace and defence manufacturing, Mr. Patil said that the State accounts for 65% of the country’s aerospace and defence business. “The new initiative by Rangsons Aerospace aligns well with the Make in India vision,” he stated. The Minister said that the State has a robust ecosystem of suppliers, R&D institutions, and engineering talent, making it a frontrunner in the sector. “The Rangsons–Boeing partnership further strengthens our position. We need to equip our youth to take up challenges in such high-tech industries and compete globally,” he added. S. Selvakumar, Principal Secretary of the Industries Department; Gunjan Krishna, Commissioner; Mahesh, Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board CEO; Pavan Ranga, Rangsons Aerospace CEO; Ashwani Bhargava, senior director of Boeing; and others were present.
