Karan Johar Credits Koffee With Karan For Making Him The ‘Most Likable Hated Person’ In Bollywood

When an ace talk show host and filmmaker sits down with two of the much-loved hosts from another iconic chat show, fans can expect nothing short of entertaining revelations and candid moments. Karan Johar joined his childhood friends Kajol and Twinkle Khanna on their talk show Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle. Accompanying him was one of the most charming actresses of this generation, Janhvi Kapoor. The episode was filled with laughter, nostalgia and honest confessions as Karan opened up about why he’s often seen as the ‘most likable hated person’ in the industry. Karan Johar Speaks About Being the ‘Most Likable Hated Person’ When Twinkle Khanna asked Karan why some people love him while others hate him, he attributed it to his iconic show Koffee With Karan, adding, “The perception of my personality type comes from the show that I did. That show, which is actually a role play kind of situation, where you are acting candour, candid, witty, bitchy, catty. Whatever. Because you are doing it for the show.” Karan Opened Up About The Reasons Behind His Trolling The Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham director shared that people often mistake his on-screen persona for his real self and refuse to see who he truly is. He shared, “Then people started believing that this is your personality type, and they judge you from there, and then that gets stuck. No matter what kind of human being you are, people will always believe that you are that person because you have played that part for a certain reason. So I think this hate or trolling comes from the perception created by that show.” Karan Johar On Struggling With Body Dysmorphia In the same episode, he opened up about his struggle with body dysmorphia, saying he has never hesitated to speak openly about sensitive topics like mental health, body image issues and personal insecurities. He stated, “If you are not true in an interview, there is no point in giving one.” Karan revealed that he grew up with body dysmorphia, admitting, “I am very uncomfortable in my own skin.” When Twinkle Khanna complimented him on his weight loss, Karan responded, “It doesn’t matter what you may be physically. In your head, you are never going to change what’s going on in that space.” He further revealed that he attends therapy sessions, emphasising that helping oneself is “a whole journey.”
