Kanya Puja 2025 Date: Is Kanjak On September 30 Or October 1? Check Date And Other Details

Goddess Durga's nine avatars are worshipped during Navratri. This year, however, a very rare and auspicious celestial alignment is taking place, due to which the festival will be celebrated for ten days. The last two days of the festival, which are Maha Ashtami and Maha Navami, are considered very special. On these days, devotees perform Kanya Pujan or Kumari Puja. For the unversed, this is a ritual where young girls are worshipped as a form of Goddess Durga. Kanjak 2025: DateAs per the Hindu panchang, the Ashtami tithi will begin on 29 September and end on 30 September in the evening, making September 30, 2025, the most auspicious day for Kanya Pujan. Some families, however, follow the tradition of doing the puja on Navami, which will fall on October 1, 2025. Ashtami Tithi: Starts on 29 September at 4:31 PM and ends on 30 September at 6:06 PM. Navami Tithi: Begins on 30 September at 6:06 PM and continues till 1 October evening. On 30 September 2025, the most auspicious time for Kanya Pujan will be during the Abhijit Muhurat, which falls between 11:47 AM and 12:35 PM. Devotees are advised to avoid Rahu Kaal, which will be from 3:09 PM to 4:39 PM on that day. Why Navratri Is 10 Days This Year?According to the Panchang, no dates are omitted this year; instead, there is an additional day. This rare and auspicious occurrence is why Shardiya Navratri will last ten full days. Astrology explains that this happens due to the ‘Vriddhi Tithi’. The Tritiya Tithi this year falls on 24 and 25 September, that has added an extra day to the festival. An additional day for devotion is considered highly auspicious, giving devotees more time for prayer and spiritual practice. One must note that Maa Chandraghanta, the married form of Goddess Parvati, is worshipped on Tritiya Tithi of Navratri. This is the reason that she will be worshipped on 25 September as well.
