At the South Indian International Movie Awards 2025 (SIIMA) held in Dubai on September 6 and 7, the filmmaker and Kamal’s niece said the superstars are like ‘brothers’. Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth are like brothers, says former’s niece Suhasini said, “Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth are like brothers, they check up on each other. Sometimes, if he (Kamal) ever gets into an accident while shooting, Rajini sir will call me and say, is Kamal hurting? If I say yes, he replies, if Kamal says it hurts, it really must be hurting because he never complains. We don’t have any competition between us. It’s important that we got the chance to do this. He is like that, so am I. It might be a surprise, business-wise, but we feel at least now it’s happening. We always wanted to produce each other’s films.” Upcoming film At SIIMA 2025, Kamal opened up about reuniting with Rajinikanth. He said, “Rajini & I are supposed to collaborate long back. It might be a surprise business-wise. We don’t know if it’s a Tharamana Sambavam (wonderful occurrence), but it’s good if the audience likes it. If they’re happy, we’ll like it. Otherwise, we’ll continue trying. This was long coming. We were separate because they gave one biscuit to both of us. But the half biscuit makes us both happy, so we’ll come together.” According to the latest development in the Tamil film industry, Rajinikanth is expected to reunite with Lokesh Kanagaraj after Coolie for a movie with Kamal. The legendary actors will share the screen after 46 years, if the film materialises. It is said to be a drama about two ageing gangsters who are drawn back to crime due to an adverse situation.
