Two juvenile suspects in Newbury Park, aged 15 and 13, have been arrested in connection with a spate of vandalism incidents, including one where a rock was thrown at a moving vehicle, causing significant damage. The Ventura County Sheriff's Office reported the arrest of these juveniles, who were allegedly part of a group riding e-bikes, on September 29, 2025. According to the media release, the investigation by the East County Major Crimes Bureau led to their apprehension. In response to several reports over the past months about juveniles targeting vehicles, detectives pursued a thorough inquiry. This resulted in the identification of the two minors believed to be involved in the dangerous act of throwing objects at cars, according to the sheriff's announcement. The evidence, along with corroborating witness statements, allowed law enforcement to link these suspects to the crime, leading to their arrest for conspiracy and felony vandalism. The involved juveniles were charged with 182(a)(1) PC - conspiracy and 594(b)(1) PC - felony vandalism, which led to their being released into the custody of their parents. Further investigations revealed that several other juveniles present at the time were not participants in the act of vandalism. Detective Steve Donlon, who prepared the report, stressed the importance of community safety and the local law enforcement's intolerance for such reckless behaviors, as included in the media release. The Sheriff’s Office used this opportunity to remind the public that destructive acts pose a threat to community safety and will be met with full legal consequences. Parents and guardians received a call to action to discuss the serious repercussions of such behavior with their children. Meanwhile, Ventura County Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and criminal complaint against the person(s) responsible for these crimes, stressing that callers can remain anonymous, and calls are not recorded.
