Justin Fields Opens Up On Difficult Week After Leading Jets To Week 8 Win

Justin Fields had a very difficult week leading up to the game. It started last Sunday when Aaron Glenn made the decision to pull him out of the game New York Jets game against the Carolina Panthers. To make matters worse, Jets owner Woody Johnson was not shy in bashing the quarterback for being a big reason that the team entered Sunday as the only winless team in the NFL. However, Fields showed incredible toughness and resolve, as he led the Jets to a stunning 39-38 come from behind victory against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. After the game, Fields shared the raw emotions of how tough this past week was. “I’m going to get pretty vulnerable right here,” Fields said. “This week, I found myself in my closet, crying on the ground, laying down. Not because of the hardships, not because of the troubles.” #Jets QB Justin Fields: “I’m going to get pretty vulnerable right here. Quarterback Justin Fields #7 of the New York Jets passes the ball during the NFL 2025 game between Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on September 7, 2025 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Being a quarterback in the NFL isn’t an easy job. Whether you’re the backup quarterback or you are Patrick Mahomes, it is the toughest job in all of sports. One moment, you can be on top of the world and everyone praising you. Then, those same people can turn on you just as fast and be calling for your job or they take joy in your struggles. It isn’t often that you hear an owner of a team single out a player quite like Johnson did with Fields this week. For any team that was struggling like the Jets have this year, there are way more issues than one singular player. Rarely do you hear a player be as open about dealing with the struggles like Fields did. He gave credit to his family and friends, as well his faith to help him handle all the adversity he was dealing with on the field. Fields and the Jets will be on a bye in Week 9, and there isn’t a better way for any player or team to enter a bye than coming off a dramatic win. Does Sunday fix all of the issues with the Jets? No, not at all. There is still a lot of work to do for the team to get things going on the right track. However, kudos to Fields for handling all that adversity in such impressive fashion, and being so open about the struggles he had this past week.
