Julius Enchana bows out of PBDS race, backs Moses Ripai for president ahead of Sept 18 TDC

KUCHING, Sept 15: Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) deputy president Julius Enchana has announced that he will not be contesting any position in the party’s upcoming Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC), which will be held in Sibu on Sept 18, instead throwing his full support behind Major (R) Moses Ripai to be the next president.

In a statement today, Julius said his decision came after “careful thought and sincere reflection”, adding that he chose “unity over division, and continuity over disruption” as PBDS needs focus, solidarity and clear direction.

“To all those who nominated me for leadership—thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your confidence humbles me, and I carry that trust with pride.

“Although I have chosen not to contest, I remain fully committed to the cause and the future of our party,” he said.

Expressing confidence in Moses’ leadership, Julius described him as a figure of discipline, integrity and inclusivity, qualities he believes the party needs at this stage.

“Moses is more than a capable leader—he is an ‘Apai’, a father figure to our members. In our culture, the ‘anak’ may be highly educated, but the ‘apai’ carries wisdom, patience, and the heart to guide his family.

“PBDS needs an ‘apai’ at the helm now more than ever,” he asserted.

Julius, who previously served as Youth secretary, secretary-general, and now deputy president, also urged delegates to elect a leader who represents all Dayak communities across Sarawak.

“The next president must not only be a leader for a few regions or divisions. The next president must be a leader who serves the entire Sarawak—from Miri to Kapit, from Bintulu to Kuching, from Lubok Antu to Sibu.

“Anything less is like building a road that stops halfway—connecting Miri to Bintulu, but failing to reach the rest of our people,” he stressed. – DayakDaily
