Former NFL star Antonio Brown made his first appearance in a Miami, Florida court room Wednesday morning as he faces a charge of attempted murder. Brown, 37, previously pleaded not guilty in a New Jersey courtroom Tuesday. The charge stems from a shooting at a boxing event hosted by streamer Adin Ross back on May 16. On Wednesday, Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Mindy Glazer ruled Brown did not need to be held without bail awaiting trial, granting him $25,000 bail, according to the Miami Herald. She did, however, say Brown must remain on house arrest and wear a GPS monitor, NBC News said. Prosecution wanted Brown kept behind bars before trial Prosecutors argued that Brown posed a flight risk because he had been in Dubai for the last few months before being extradited by authorities last week. However, Brown’s lawyer Mark Eiglarsh contended that his client was in Dubai on legitimate business and would not attempt to flee the country. “He had a passport, he no longer has a passport,” Eiglarsh told the court Wednesday. “He’ll be living at his home, right near my office in Broward County, right near my home and we’ll be working zealously on his case.” Brown involved in May 16 incident Brown’s latest legal entanglement is the result of an altercation at the event hosted by Ross six months ago. A fight broke out, with Brown appearing to be involved in a scuffle with another man, according to video from the scene. Gunshots are later heard on tape. The alleged victim, Zul-Qarnain Nantambu, 41, alleges Brown punched and later fired shots at him. Brown, who was detained following the incident and later released, has maintained he acted in self-defense. “Regarding the boxing event that happened last night. I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me,” Brown tweeted on May 17. “Contrary to some video circulating, Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me. I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED. I will be talking to my legal council and attorneys on pressing charges on the individuals that jumped me. I will keep you all posted step-by-step on the process.” A warrant was issued for Brown’s arrest in June, but he never turned himself in. If convicted, the former Pittsburgh Steelers standout faces up to 15 years in prison.
