Jude Law threw his support behind the uncertain future of late-night in a visit to The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon Thursday night.
Law, the first guest of the night, was asked by Fallon about his uncanny ability to predict the future in his film roles in the past. Fallon pointed to a few examples with headlines from various publications: “How the Movie ‘Contagion’ Accurately Predicted The 2020 Coronavirus;” “Jude Law Movie ‘AI Artificial Intelligence’ Made a Dark Prediction That’s Now Coming True,” and “How Jude Law’s ‘The Young Pope’ Predicted The First American Pope,”
Law responded by saying: “If there’s any truth in that, I hope I predict that you’re on the air tomorrow night, the night after that, and all the other good people that present these TV shows.”

Law’s comments followed Fallon’s show opening in which he immediately addressed the Kimmel suspension saying, “The big story is that Jimmy Kimmel was suspended by ABC after pressure from the FCC leaving everyone thinking WTF.”
He then assured the audience that he would cover the President’s UK trip just like he normally would, as a voiceover began dubbing over his words:
“President Trump just wrapped up his three day trip to the UK, and he looked incredibly handsome… His tie was exactly the right length and his face looked like a color that exists in nature, and his hair looked better than Conrad’s from The Summer I Turned Pretty,” he joked.
On Wednesday, ABC pulled Kimmel off the air “indefinitely” after the comedian offered his take on the killing of Charlie Kirk, after the FCC chair had weighed in and after Nexstar axed his late night show on the 32 ABC affiliates it owns out of a total of 200 stations throughout the nation.
After the decision was announced, President Donald Trump praised ABC and implied Fallon and Seth Meyers’ late-night shows also were in jeopardy, writing on Truth Social, “Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible. That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT”
Trump had previously called out Fallon numerous times on Truth Social. In July, after it was announced that Stephen Colbert’s Late Show would be ending next year, he wrote: “Next up will be an even less talented Jimmy Kimmel, and then, a weak, and very insecure, Jimmy Fallon. The only real question is, who will go first? Show Biz and Television is a very simple business. If you get Ratings, you can say or do anything. If you don’t, you always become a victim. Colbert became a victim to himself, the other two will follow.”
