Jubilee Hills Bypoll: Parties step up campaigns ahead of November 11 polling

Hyderabad: With 10 days remaining until polling on November 11, the campaign in the Jubilee Hills assembly constituency has intensified as major parties, excluding independents, focus on achieving full coverage of its slum pockets and residential colonies. Until a few days ago, candidates campaigned on main roads, in key slum areas and among residential colonies through padayatras and door-to-door visits, covering about 60 per cent of the constituency. They have now set their sights on 100 per cent outreach by stepping up their efforts. In the Bharat Rashtra Samithi camp, candidate Maganti Sunitha toured extensively on the day the poll schedule was announced. In the first phase, she visited slums in Borabanda, Yousufguda, Erragadda, Krishna Nagar, Venkatagiri and Mothi Nagar and interacted with voters. In the second phase, she focused on residential colonies including Jubilee Hills, Kalyan Nagar phase-1, phase-2 and phase-3, Vengalrao Nagar and other localities. The third phase, which could be the final leg of her campaign, will target the remaining slums and colonies. BRS high command has chalked out schedules for key areas, and BRS working president K T Rama Rao, alongside senior leaders and former ministers, will join the final push. The Congress party has completed its second phase but remains behind the BRS and the BJP in terms of ground coverage. Senior Congress leaders concentrated on slums and a few colonies through door-to-door campaigning. Apart from a small group of star campaigners, including cabinet Ministers, other senior figures have yet to assume responsibility for constituency outreach. The BJP, meanwhile, has outpaced Congress. Candidate Lankala Deepak Reddy has covered over 50 per cent of the constituency to date, according to party sources. Union Minister for Mines G Kishan Reddy and Telangana BJP chief Ramchander Rao have campaigned in key areas. From this week, the BJP plans to deploy central ministers to bolster efforts in the remaining pockets of the constituency.
