Jordan Addison's Father Speaks Out After Vikings Discipline Star WR

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison seized his moment of redemption on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

Benched in the first quarter due to missing team walkthroughs earlier in the week, head coach Kevin O’Connell assured Addison to be ready when his time would come.

“”He handled it professionally, he spoke with the team to let them know that, whenever I give him the opportunity to go into the game, they can count on him,” head coach Kevin O’Connell said in what proved to be a poetic justice for Addison, who caught the game-winning touchdown with 20 seconds left in regulation to clinch a 21-17 win in London on Sunday, Oct. 5.

Addison’s absence in the first quarter was met with frustration by many. However, Addison’s father sent a message of support for his son after the game.

Jordan Addison’s father spoke out after the Vikings decided to sit him for the first quarter of a Week 5 matchup against the Browns after he missed a team walkthrough.

Sharing a sideline video of Addison’s game-winning catch, Addison’s father, Rolando, wrote, “Learned a lesson in the beginning of the game and won it at the end, what a feeling. I [love] you and I’m behind you 10000%.”

Addison finished the game with five catches for 41 yards and his game-winning touchdown. He was suspended for the first three games of the season due to an alcohol-related offense, but he has shown his value to the team, catching nine passes for 155 yards in the two games he was available.

Addison and the Vikings (3-2) have a Week 6 bye to get healthy and reset for the next leg of the season, which should see him contribute more so long as he stays in good standing with the team.

“I love Jordan Addison. He’s a guy I care about tremendously. He knows every guy in that locker room has his back. He knows I will not waver in my confidence and belief in him,” O’Connell added.
