Although there are always heated and interesting debates to be had in the combat sports world, the one topic of conversation which typically isn't debated that much, due to most people agreeing, is who the greatest fighter in MMA history is. Although there have been plenty of legendary fighters throughout history, such as Anderson Silva and Georges St-Pierre, the consensus GOAT of the sport is Jon Jones, and there aren't many people who will disagree with that. Despite being viewed as a fearless, unbeatable monster, 'Bones' has always been very selective with the fights he decides to take and has a history of putting off fighting certain opponents until he feels he has seen enough of them. During a recent appearance on the No Scripts Podcast, Jones admitted that his biggest career regret was not fighting one of the most feared light heavyweights in UFC history. Although Jones spoke about his regret of not fighting this one man, he shockingly admitted that he was actually "glad" he ended up getting arrested, as he was extremely "intimidated." Jon Jones Admits he Was Glad he Didn't Face 'Intimidating' Light Heavyweight Jon Jones may be the consensus GOAT of MMA, but he has always been brutally honest about his fears when competing and leading up to certain fights throughout his career. During a recent appearance on the No Scripts Podcast, 'Bones' shocked the MMA world by admitting he was "glad" he got arrested, as it meant not having to compete against one of the most intimidating and powerful UFC fighters of all time. That fighter is none other than the late Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson. Jones was brutally honest about his fear of 'Rumble' and admitted he was intimidated by him, although he was one of the kindest and respectful people in the sport. "I ended up getting in trouble and not being able to fight against Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson." He said: "Rest in peace. Man, that kid was so respectful. He's one of the scariest, but most respectful people ever. I really missed out on that one, not being able to share the ring with such a human being." The two were scheduled to face each other for the UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 187 in 2015, but the fight was pulled due to Jones getting involved in a hit-and-run incident, which led to him being stripped of his title just weeks out from the event, and 'Rumble' ended up fighting Daniel Cormier instead. "At the same time, somewhere in my heart, I was glad that I got in trouble. He was a scary cat. That's one that everybody missed out on. He really intimidated me a lot, but that's my job, to go out there against guys that are very intimidating, and I put myself on the line, and I do it with love." As Jones mentioned, that was a huge fight which fans missed out on, but it was refreshing to hear him be so honest about his genuine fear of such a terrifying fighter.
