Joint Base Andrews evacuated after multiple people fall ill from suspicious package

Multiple people have been rushed to hospital after an incident at a US air base. The incident took place at Joint Base Andrews, the military base through which VIPs such as the president, vice president, and cabinet secretaries regularly travel on official business. President Donald Trump was at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday. Officials confirmed a suspicious package was opened by an individual which resulted in multiple people becomming ill and needing medical treatment. The contents of the package has not been disclosed. A condition update provided by confirmed those rushed to hospital are in a stable condition and were released today. No further details were provided regarding their injuries. A Joint Base Andrews spokesperson said: "Joint Base Andrews responded to an incident here today after an individual opened a suspicious package. Multiple individuals felt ill after the package was opened. They were evaluated and treated by JBA medical personnel. They were determined to be in stable condition and released today. "As a precaution, the building and connecting building were evacuated, and a cordon was established around the area. Joint Base Andrews first responders were dispatched to the scene, determined there were no immediate threats, and normal operations have resumed. An investigation is currently ongoing.
