Johnnys Garage restaurant is now open in downtown Hanahan

HANAHAN — A new neighborhood eatery slinging hot pizzas and cold beer is opening in the heart of this small town near North Charleston.
From the owners of The Royal American and The Bounty Bar comes the new restaurant Johnny’s Garage, serving up thincrust Northeast-style pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, “dirty sodas” and boozy milkshakes.
Opening day is Oct. 2 with hours starting at 5 p.m. Initial business hours are 11:30 a.m. to midnight Thursdays through Mondays, but it will eventually be open seven days a week.
Located in an old BP gas station at 1256 Yeamans Hall Road, Johnny’s Garage has a spacious barroom and a large covered patio with a stage for entertainment. Whether you want to come hang and watch sports or set the kids up around a good pie, the new spot promises a family- and dog-friendly atmosphere with laid-back vibes.
Between the old vintage truck mounted over the entryway, a big satellite dish that reads “Tune me up Johnny” and a plethora of old school décor, the restaurant immediately gives you the comfy feeling of a decades-old dive bar.
“We really want to create a nice gathering place for the people out here who want to talk about their day and have happy hour or share a nice meal,” said co-owner John Kenney.
