Could Joe Burrow be on the move after the 2025 season? At least one person has his doubts about it.The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback has not played since sustaining turf toe on a sack in Week 2 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. During this time, he has become the subject of a ludicrous hypothetical trade. On Thursday's episode of ESPN's Get Up, Mike Greenberg revealed that he had received texts from friends who were New York Jets fans clamoring for that franchise to trade for Burrow:“These delusional Jets fan friends of mine think that with all of these picks, they're going to pry Burrow out of a situation in Cincinnati. I keep telling them that is ludicrous, but I feel like I owe it to them to at least bring it up at the table.”However, John Middlekauff has some reservations about the prospects that it will happen. The former scout said on his 3rd-and-Out podcast (segment starts at 22:18):"I think if you're the Jets, obviously you would do that, but it'd be pretty risky. I mean, this is a guy now who's had some major injuries. He hasn't been able to finish three seasons. one with a wrist, one with a knee, and now one with a turf toe. So, it's like durability is a major concern."Bengals still need Joe Burrow despite Joe Flacco's exploitsIn Joe Burrow's absence, the Bengals briefly leaned on his backup Jake Browning. However, after a string of poor performances, they benched him in favor of midseason trade acquisition Joe Flacco. And since then, the former Super Bowl MVP has been nothing but prolific despite a 1-2 stretch, throwing for nine touchdowns against two interceptions in those games. Still, Sports Illustrated's Mike Toscano believes the team will eventually need their franchise face back, especially against teams that can switch coverages and harry the passer:"[Flacco]'s a guy who'll stand in the pocket and deliver the ball competently in rhythm. Against the defenses the Bengals have played recently, and with the receivers they send against them, that's gonna be enough to put up big numbers for now. The rubber hits the road when the opposition forces him off his spot and impacts the pocket."The difference between Jake Browning and Joe Burrow was everything; Browning became a huge negative, but the difference between Joe Flacco and Joe Burrow is what happens when things get real."The Bengals will return from their bye week on November 16 when they visit the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kickoff is at 1 pm ET on CBS.
