BANGOR TWP, MI – Bangor Township Schools officials are inviting the public to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony next week for a new addition to the high school building. “We are incredibly proud of this project and all that it represents for Bangor Township,” Superintendent Matthew Schmidt said in a statement. The ceremony will take place from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at John Glenn High School, located at 3201 Kiesel Road in Bangor Township. District and community leaders will speak during the event, which will also feature light refreshments and tours of the new space. “This project was made possible through the dedication of our families, staff, and community partners, and we are truly grateful for the trust and support that brought this vision to life,” Schmidt said. The addition includes an auxiliary gym, weight room, training room, and SmartLab, a project-based learning environment offering students hands-on experience in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics), according to the district’s website. “The new addition at John Glenn High School reflects what is possible when a community believes in its schools and invests in its students’ futures,” Schmidt said. “It stands as the result of years of planning, collaboration, and shared purpose, with each step guided by our commitment to preparing students for what lies ahead.” The new facilities are meant to expand educational opportunities, promote wellness, and improve the district’s athletic and academic programs, according to a Bangor Township Schools news release. “Every space, from the new SmartLab to the updated athletic and classroom areas, was designed to support student growth: not only academically, but in confidence, character, and capability,” Schmidt said.
