Joe Rogan is showing support for Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s controversial speech to top U.S. military officials about revamping the military and ridding it of “woke” culture and “politically toxic garbage.”
During Tuesday’s episode of his “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast featuring The Red Clay Strays band, Rogan said the government is establishing a “moral and ethical mandate” within the armed forces with “no more identity politics and bullshit,” adding that the Trump administration’s approach “makes sense.”

Rogan argued that the “most important thing” the country’s military leadership can do is “be ready.”
“Be ready, have the best [and] most capable military that’s humanly possible given the resources that we have today. ‘This is what our goal is. This is what our job is,’” Rogan said.
The Red Clay Strays’ bass player, Andrew Bishop, then questioned Rogan on whether the Trump administration “needed to call everybody together” for the highly-criticized multimillion-dollar meeting to accomplish that.

“You saw what the fuck was going on over the last four years,” Rogan replied, taking aim at the Biden administration. “You got guys in dresses talking about how it’s really important to have inclusiveness.”
In a mocking tone, Rogan continued, “‘The most important thing about the military is inclusivity.’”
Claiming that “we had crazy people that were in charge of very important positions,” Rogan then appeared to reference nuclear engineer and LGBTQ activist, Sam Brinton, who became the country’s first openly gender-fluid senior government official in 2022.
Brinton, a former deputy assistant secretary of the Office of Spent Fuel, was let go by the Department of Energy after becoming embroiled in two separate allegations of luggage theft.

“[Brinton] was stealing women’s clothes. That guy was in charge of like, fucking nuclear waste, and he’s going around stealing people’s underwear with lipstick and a bald head,” Rogan said, laughing.
Joined by Trump, Hegseth spoke at a rare meeting with senior military officials at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia, Tuesday.

During his speech, Hegseth discussed the impending revamp of the U.S. military and railed into “woke” culture and “politically toxic garbage” in front of hundreds of military leaders.
“This administration has done a great deal from day one to remove the social justice, politically correct, and toxic ideological garbage that had infected our department to rip out the politics,” Hegseth said. “No more identity months, DEI offices, dudes in dresses.”
He added: “No more climate change worship. No more division, distraction, or gender delusions. No more debris. As I’ve said before, and will say again. We are done with that shit.”

Drawing further ire, Hegseth proclaimed that he doesn’t want to see anymore “fat generals and admirals” in service while hammering down the importance of maintaining strict fitness standards.
“Frankly, it’s tiring to look out at combat formations, or really any formation, and see fat troops,” he said. “Likewise, it’s completely unacceptable to see fat generals and admirals in the halls of the Pentagon leading commands around the country and the world.”
Hegseth added, “It’s a bad look. It is bad, and it’s not who we are.”
Hegseth’s speech faced criticism. Retired Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling called his and Trump’s remarks during the meeting “insulting” and “offensive.”
