Student politics at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is set to heat up once again as the university’s Election Committee (JNUSU Election Committee 2025-26) has announced the schedule for the upcoming students’ union elections. Important Election Dates And Timeline According to the notice, polling will take place on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, and the results will be declared on Thursday, November 6. The election process will commence on October 24 with the publication of the voters’ list, followed by voters’ corrections from 9 am to 5 pm. Nomination forms will be issued on October 25, and the nomination process will begin on October 27 and continue until 5 pm. Nomination And Election Campaign The list of valid nominations will be released on October 28. Candidates may withdraw their nominations on the same day between 2 pm and 5 pm. The final list of candidates will be published at 7 pm, followed by a press conference at 8 pm where candidates will be introduced and campaign locations will be allocated. General Body Meetings And Debates General Body Meetings (GBMs) will take place between October 29 and 31 across various schools, giving candidates the opportunity to present their agendas. A university-level GBM is scheduled for November 1 at 6 pm, while the much-anticipated Presidential Debate will be held on November 2 at 8 pm to add to the excitement of the election season. November 3 will be observed as a ‘No Campaign Day’. Polling And Results Announcement Voting will be held on November 4 in two phases: from 9 am to 1 pm and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Counting of votes will begin at 9 pm, and results are expected to be announced on November 6. Ensuring A Smooth Election Process The notice, signed by Election Committee Chairperson Ravi Kant, urges all student organisations and candidates to submit their documents promptly to ensure a smooth and fair election process. With the dates now officially announced, political activity at JNU has gained momentum — and all eyes are on November 4 to see which student organisation will take charge of the university’s leadership.
