The department is also incorporating expert inputs before the final rollout of the policy framework.Over 250 participants, including civil surgeons, medical college experts, and private hospital representatives, deliberated on best practices and policy implementation strategies. Dr. Neha Arora, Special Secretary, Health Department, said that the SOP represents the state’s commitment to establishing accountable and efficient critical care systems.“District hospitals will be strengthened to provide immediate stabilization and advanced care. The government is determined to make ICU/CCU services effective and accessible at every level,” she stated, reports UNI.Shashi Prakash Jha, Mission Director of NHM Jharkhand, emphasised that the priority is not just infrastructure but also operational efficiency across the state.“State must ensure that no patient dies due to lack of ventilator support or poor ICU management. Our focus is on systematic capacity-building and inter-hospital coordination,” he said.Additional Secretary Vidyanand Sharma Pankaj highlighted that a legal and operational framework is being finalized to ensure uniformity in ICU functioning statewide.“The draft SOP is a crucial part of a larger initiative to bring accountability, efficiency, and standardization to critical care delivery,” he noted.Technical sessions during the conference covered key areas such as Tele-ICU integration, trauma and emergency management protocols, ICU admission and discharge guidelines, infection control, and training for ICU personnel.
