Jets DB Jarvis Brownlee Jr Goes After Titans Following Upset Win

New York Jets cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr made the winning pass breakup in the closing moments of the Week 8 victory versus the Cincinnati Bengals. Naturally, several reporters wanted to get a quote from him after the game in the locker room. Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic explained what happened as they were waiting to speak with Brownlee. “So the locker room is wrapping up, and Tom Rock and I from Newsday are kind of waiting to talk to Brownlee because he had that last play. He was the last one in the locker room. Everybody else in the media had already left. He is like taking his time putting on his jewelry and stuff, which is kind of funny, but at one point he asks, ‘What time is it?’ We say it’s like 4:57 [pm] and he’s like ‘Oh great, I still have time to go and watch the [Tennessee] Titans lose’,” Rosenblatt revealed on “Jets Final Drive.” The North Remembers On September 23, the Jets sent a 2026 sixth-round pick in a trade with the Titans for Brownlee and a 2026 seventh-round pick. After the trade was processed, Brownlee spoke to the Jets media in the locker room a few days later. He revealed to the media that he was “absolutely surprised” and “a little bit hurt” by the Titans’ decision to trade him. Brownlee, 24, entered the league as the No. 146 overall pick in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL draft. Insiders Explain How Big of a Win This Deal Was for the Jets “Yeah, I just don’t understand. There had to be something that nobody knows about with the Titans. Like, I do not get why you get rid of a guy on a rookie contract who is clearly this good,” Rosenblatt said on “Jets Final Drive.” “It should be said that: 1. Darren Mougey hit an absolute home run with the Jarvis Brownlee trade. 2. What on Earth were the Titans thinking trade him away for nothing?” Rosenblatt asked on social media. “He has that kind of edge to him, though,” Rosenblatt said. “Good, you need guys like that. That’s a dawg. That goes back to like Jamal Adams, that guy is a dawg,” NFL Insider Connor Hughes responded. “Remember you and I talking about that earlier in the season. Probably before he started really playing a role. We were like who is the guy on this defense who is going to be like the energy giver?” Rosenblatt said to Hughes. “Like Jermaine Johnson, you could say, but he was hurt at the time, but other than that, you didn’t have a C.J. Mosley. A guy who was going to rally the troops and really just set the tone. It seems like he [Brownlee] is that guy. He has a lot of confidence, and he says all the right things … He loves being a Jet already.” After the Jets’ first win of the season over the Bengals, Brownlee took to social media. “God I just want to say…I’m grateful for you making me a JET🙏🏽💚,” Brownlee posted. “He is a guy who could be a culture-changing type player. Not in terms of saying he is going to be a superstar or anything, but just the way he plays football. That can be a really big boon for Aaron Glenn as he tries to find like his guys with this new regime,” Rosenblatt explained.
