Jessica Simpson proudly introduced her new character, marking her first on-screen acting role in 15 years. In an Instagram post, the “Take My Breath Away” hitmaker unveiled her botched plastic surgery look as she played Lee-Ann in the newly released series All’s Fair. The 45-year-old joined lead stars Kim Kardashian, Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close, Niecy Nash and Naomi Watts for a guest appearance. In Episode 3, her character seeks legal help from Allura Grant’s (Kardashian) law firm after a disastrous plastic surgery procedure. Simpson’s social media post featured a behind-the-scenes clip showing her wearing prosthetics that looked strikingly realistic, with exaggerated lips, puffed cheeks and overstretched skin. “Introducing this ultimate badass with a heart of gold— Lee-Ann. It took an incredible village (and six hours in prosthetics!) to bring her to life for @hulu ‘s #AllsFair and wow… What a ride,” she wrote. Moreover, she expressed her deep gratitude to the executives behind the show and mentioned how thrilled she was for the opportunity that she hadn’t had in her career until now. “A massive thank you to @ryanmurphyproductions, @kimkardashian, @krisjenner and @shinybootz for trusting me with a role like this. You allowed me to disappear into a character with real depth and emotion. No one has ever given me the chance to do something like this before, and I loved it. I hope you all see Lee-Ann’s heart- and her strength- as much as I felt it,” the singer posted. The comment section was filled with congratulatory posts praising how she perfectly portrayed the character. “You killed it!! We need to see you take on more roles,” one wrote. “Great performance,” another added. The same goes for a commenter who said, “Dayum @jessicasimpson, they did a spectacular job on those prosthetics! I thought you got cheek implants! LOL.” However, some fans seemed to have missed the point and overlooked the Dukes of Hazzard star’s explanation in the caption. Many were left puzzled, flooding the comments with questions about her face and appearance. “Omg Jesus, what happened to your face?” a follower asked. “What happened to ur face?” a different user echoed. Another commenter asked the same thing, noting, “What happened to your beautiful face!!” “What’s up with them cheeks,” a follower remarked. Others pointed out that she had too much filler on her face, noting, “Right. I swear botox fillers etc can be so damaging.” “I hope that’s a filter and not cheek filler??” a fan wrote. Before the release of the series, Simpson admitted that she was also impressed by how she managed to portray the character. “I didn’t even know I could do it,” she told Entertainment Tonight during the premiere, adding, “I haven’t acted in so long and normally I play the ditzy blonde, but this time I come in very vulnerable. It’s very emotional.” At the time, the 45-year-old hinted at showing viewers a bold, unfiltered and dramatic new side of her, which she totally did based on the teaser. “I didn’t know I could cry on cue, and somehow I did it,” Simpson said. “So, I impressed myself. And then I go, bat [expletive] crazy. You’re gonna see a brand new side of me.” The pop singer’s last on-screen appearance was in 2010 when she appeared in Entourage as a guest star.
